Castor oil is said to have a lot of beneficial effects including out hair. Isn’t it amazing? And not only our hair in the head but also on the other parts. Given that castor oil has antifungal, antibacterial properties, and it contains ricinoleic acid which promotes good circulation, hair repair and growth is really attainable.
Ricinoleic acid helps in the growth of your hair. It also balances your scalp’s pH. As a result it replenishes the natural oil of your scalp and repair the damages caused by the strong chemicals from your commercial hair products. Castor oil also has antioxidant property. Together with keratin, they make your hair smoother, stronger, and less frizzy.
Below are a list of the most common benefits our hair can get from Castor oil.
Promotes Growth of your hair
If you are scared of using castor oil because you are afraid it may result to extra hair growth on your body, well, it will not. Castor oil is only effective if applied on your scalp. As what I have said above, massaging castor oil in your scalp will improve circulation thus promoting hair growth.
How to use? Just heat the oil and cool for few minutes. Apply the warm oil on your scalp sing your fingertips and gently massage you scalp. If you do this every evening, you will see positive result after 2 weeks.
You can also do this on your eyebrows if you feel that yours are too scanty. Use cotton buds instead of your fingertips in applying the oil. It is also effective on alopecia or on areas that you lost ample amount of hair.
Hair Color Enhancer
Castor oil is also a humectant. Meaning? It locks moisture on your hair thus making it richer and thicker, and darker. So for those with colored hair applying castor oil is a great idea. It will enhance the color and undo the damage from the hair color product.
Use castor oil after washing your hair. Apply one tbsp. of warm castor oil on your hair using your fingers. Run as much as strands as possible. And if you have long hair, divide your hair into sections before applying the oil to get more hair strands applied.
Natural Eyelash Mascara
Mascaras are made to make your eyelashes look darker and fuller. It makes your eyes look more defined. Instead of using the commercial mascara products, you may make a homemade eyelash mascara using castor oil instead.
To make a homemade natural mascara, prepare castor oil, beeswax, charcoal powder if you intend for black colored mascara or cocoa powder for brown. Just melt 1 tbsp of beeswax and mix 2 tbsp of castor oil on a double boiler. Then add charcoal powder or cocoa powder to add color and consistency. Let it cool and you can use it instead of the commercial one. It is guaranteed safe and gives no side effects.
To get a darker and thicker eyelashes, you can apply just castor oil on your eyelashes before bedtime until you get the right thickness and darkness of your eyelashes.
